Download Monitor Captcha Addon

Sites that offer files for download often attract automated traffic. Bots can spam download links, create fake download counts and use up server bandwidth. Download Monitor Captcha Addon addresses this by asking visitors to pass a Google reCAPTCHA check first. Real people continue to the file, while automated scripts are filtered out. That keeps your files for the people you meant to share them with and keeps your download numbers closer to real use.

The addon is built for the Download Monitor plugin, so it fits into the setup you already have. The reCAPTCHA technology is meant to be hard on bots and easy on people, and it includes an audio option for visitors who are visually impaired. If you want the check to match your site, you can override the CAPTCHA template file and style the output to fit your design and branding.

Features

• Works with Download Monitor: The addon is made to plug into the Download Monitor plugin, so you can protect your existing downloadable files without changing how your downloads are managed.
• Google reCAPTCHA verification: Visitors complete a Google reCAPTCHA step before they reach a file. The check separates people from spam bots and automated scripts.
• Audio CAPTCHA option: An audio CAPTCHA is available for visitors who are visually impaired, so the verification step stays accessible to more of your audience.
• Overridable template file: You can override the default CAPTCHA output through a template file. This lets developers and site owners match the look of the check to the rest of the site.
• Blocks download abuse: Requiring human verification helps stop fake downloads and artificial traffic. This protects server bandwidth and keeps download statistics more accurate.
• Low friction for real users: The verification is designed to avoid frustrating legitimate visitors, so genuine users can reach your files with little extra effort.
• Simple configuration: Setup needs only minimal technical knowledge, which makes it practical for site owners who want download protection without a long configuration process.
