Overview

Open registration invites spam and sign-ups from people who do not belong. WordPress Restrict Email Domains addresses this by checking each new registration against rules you set. You can limit sign-ups to specific email addresses, whole domains such as example.com, or extensions such as .edu or .org. Regular expressions are supported for more precise domain rules. Custom error messages tell users why a sign-up was turned away.

The plugin works with WordPress core and Multisite, plus BuddyPress, BuddyBoss Platform, WooCommerce, WP Members, UsersWP, Ultimate Member and Paid Memberships Pro. It also covers registration forms from Elementor essential addons, Login/Signup Popup plugins, Easy Digital Downloads and the User Registration plugin. That makes it a fit for schools, organizations, intranets, member communities and stores that want to limit who can register as a customer.

Features

  • Three levels of filtering: Restrict registrations by exact email address, by whole domain name, or by domain extension such as .edu or .org, depending on how tightly you want to control access.
  • Regular expression rules: Write regex patterns to build precise, flexible domain rules for registration cases that simple lists of domains and addresses cannot cover.
  • Spam registration control: Accept sign-ups only from trusted email domains, which cuts down on spam and unauthorized registrations in your community.
  • Dashboard settings: Manage allowed domains, extensions and specific addresses from the admin dashboard, and write customizable error messages that guide users who are turned away.
  • WooCommerce customer control: Decide who can register as a customer in your WooCommerce store by restricting email domains, which suits stores with membership or B2B models.
  • Broad plugin compatibility: Works with BuddyPress, BuddyBoss Platform, WP Members, UsersWP, Ultimate Member, Paid Memberships Pro, Easy Digital Downloads and several other registration plugins and forms.
  • Multisite support: Apply email domain restrictions centrally across the sites in a WordPress Multisite network instead of configuring each site separately.
  • Developer action hook: Use the wpresed_email_domain_validation_failed hook to trigger custom notifications or other actions whenever a registration email fails validation.

Best for

  • Membership sites limiting sign-ups to approved domains
  • Schools, intranets and company communities
  • WooCommerce stores with B2B customer registration
