BuddyPress Profile Visibility Manager

Social communities hold people with different comfort levels about sharing. Some want an open profile, others want to be visible only to friends or group members. BuddyPress Profile Visibility Manager gives each member those choices inside the site, so privacy preferences are handled by the members themselves and not by a support queue.

Members can set profile access to everyone, logged-in users, friends only, group members, or only themselves and the site admin. They can also choose whether they appear in the Members Directory, in directory search results, and whether their last active time is shown. Administrators can set defaults for new users, restrict privacy changes to admins, and control directory visibility site-wide. It works with BuddyPress and BuddyBoss, and developers can adjust privacy levels through hooks.

Features

• Directory and search visibility: Members can show or hide their profile in the Members Directory and in directory search results, which lets each person decide how easy they are to find.
• Multiple privacy levels: Profile access can be limited to everyone, logged-in users, friends only, group members, or kept fully private so only the member and the site admin can see it.
• Last active time privacy: Members decide whether their last active status is visible to others, which adds a further layer of control over their online presence.
• Friendship request controls: Members can accept or block friendship requests, so they manage who is able to connect with them on the site.
• Admin defaults and override: Admins can set default privacy levels for new users and can restrict privacy setting changes to administrators only, keeping policies consistent across the community.
• Members Directory restrictions: Admins can make the Members Directory visible to all users, only logged-in users, or only site admins, which controls how exposed members are site-wide.
• Paid Memberships Pro addon: With the Profile Visibility PMPro Addon, profile visibility can be restricted by membership level, so access can follow paid tiers.
• BuddyBoss and developer hooks: Works with BuddyPress and BuddyBoss, including photo, video and document tabs visibility. Developers can tailor privacy levels with hooks.

Best for

• BuddyPress community sites with privacy-minded members
• Membership sites that restrict profile access by level
