Overview
Community sites work best when people know something happened that involves them. Without alerts, members must return to the site and look around for replies, comments or profile visits. This extension handles that by pushing notifications to each member in real time through AJAX, so the page stays as it is while new alerts arrive.
It works with the Ultimate Member plugin and covers core social activity, along with bbPress forum replies and add-ons such as User Reviews and myCRED. Admins choose which notification types are active, and members pick which ones they want. Each member also gets a page to review past alerts and delete old ones, which keeps the feed tidy.
Features
- Live AJAX notifications: New alerts appear for members while they browse, with no page reload needed. People see activity on the site as it happens.
- Core activity alerts: Members are told about a change to their role, a comment on their post, a reply to their own comment, or a visit to their profile.
- bbPress forum alerts: Users get a notification when someone replies to a topic they started, or replies to them within a specific bbPress forum topic.
- Add-on notifications: Works with other Ultimate Member extensions such as User Reviews and myCRED, so members hear about reviews, ratings and point awards.
- Admin and user controls: Admins can switch individual notification types on or off, and each member chooses which of the remaining types they want to receive.
- Dedicated notifications page: Every member has a page where they can look back over earlier alerts and see everything in one place.
- Delete old notifications: Members can remove notifications they no longer need, which keeps their feed clean and relevant without clutter.
- Unread count in browser tab: The number of unread notifications shows in the browser tab, so members can tell something new is waiting.
