Ultimate Member - Followers

Sites built on Ultimate Member often need a way for members to connect with one another. This extension brings the familiar social media follow model to your community. Members can follow people they find interesting and be followed in return, which gives profiles a clearer social layer. It fits membership sites, social networks and community forums that already run on Ultimate Member.

The plugin works inside your existing member directories and profile pages. Users can limit profile access to their followers or to the people they follow, and they manage notification preferences from their account page. Role-based permissions let you decide which roles can follow and which can be followed. It also works with other Ultimate Member extensions, such as Notifications and Private Messages.

Features

• Follow and unfollow button: A follow/unfollow button appears on user profiles, so members can connect with each other and stop following someone whenever they choose.
• Follower and following counts: Profiles display how many followers a member has and how many people they follow, which makes each member's network visible to visitors.
• Directory card integration: Follow and unfollow buttons and follower stats also appear on profile cards in member directories, so users can follow others without opening a profile.
• Followers-only profile visibility: Members can restrict who sees their profile so that only their followers have access, giving them more say over what they share.
• Limit access to people you follow: A member can also restrict profile access to only the people they follow, which gives them tighter control over community interactions.
• New follower email notifications: An email goes out automatically when someone gains a new follower, and users can adjust their notification preferences from their account page.
• Sidebar widgets: Sidebar widgets list a user's followers and the people they follow, so these connections can be shown outside the profile itself.
• Role-based permissions: Choose which user roles are allowed to follow others and which roles can be followed, a useful setup for communities with specialized member types.
