Overview
Many sites publish articles written by more than one person, yet WordPress normally credits a single author. PublishPress Authors Pro fills that gap. You can attach as many authors as a post needs, including guest writers who have no WordPress account, so every contributor gets proper credit alongside a bio and photo.
Beyond naming people, the plugin controls how authors appear. You can build profile pages, sort authors into groups such as Editors or Reviewers, and display author lists through widgets, shortcodes or automatically below content. It also works with custom post types and with the Polylang multilingual plugin, so it fits magazines, agency blogs and content-rich sites.
Features
- Multiple authors per post: Assign as many authors as an article needs, so every contributor receives credit and visibility on the same post.
- Guest author support: Add guest authors who have no WordPress account. They get full profile support like regular users, which helps when you work with freelancers.
- Flexible author profile fields: Give each author a profile built from custom fields, including plain text, email addresses, social media links and formatted WYSIWYG content, so bios can reflect their expertise.
- Custom author pages: Set up author archive pages and decide what they show, such as excerpts, tags and read-more links, so visitors can browse each writer's work.
- Author categories and groups: Organize authors into groups like Editors, Reviewers or Coauthors to keep a larger editorial team orderly and the site structure clear.
- Filterable author lists: Create author lists with different layouts, filters and search, then place them wherever you want to highlight contributors.
- Widgets, shortcodes and auto display: Show author information through widgets, shortcodes or automatically below content, depending on where it fits your layout.
- Custom post type support: Extend multiple author assignments beyond blog posts to other content types, such as portfolios, reviews or product pages.
Best for
- Multi-author blogs and online magazines
- Sites that publish guest writers and freelancers
- Multilingual sites running Polylang
