Overview
Entering location data by hand is slow and easy to get wrong. A typo in a postcode or a swapped coordinate can break a map or a listing. Meta Box Geolocation removes that step. You register your location fields as usual in Meta Box, and once an address is entered, the extension looks it up and fills the matching fields for you.
The data comes from the Google Maps and Open Street Maps geocoding APIs, so you do not need to keep a location database on your own site. A binding template system lets you combine several elements, such as state and country, into a single field. It suits shops, restaurants, event venues and other location-based content built on Meta Box.
Features
- Automatic field population: When a user enters an address, the extension fills the related location fields right away, so nobody has to type each detail by hand.
- Google Maps and Open Street Maps: Geocoding runs through the Google Maps and Open Street Maps APIs, which supply the location data used to populate your fields.
- No local location database: Because lookups happen through the mapping APIs, you do not have to store or maintain a location database on your own site.
- Binding templates: Combine several location elements, for example state and country, into one custom field by using the binding template system.
- Works with Meta Box fields: Register your location fields the usual Meta Box way. The extension adds geocoding on top, with minimal setup and no complex API coding.
- Wide range of location fields: Supports fields such as address, postal code, suburb, latitude and longitude, along with other location details.
- Fewer entry errors: Pulling details from geocoding databases instead of typing them reduces the mistakes that come with manual entry of location data.
- Works with conditional logic: Location fields that use Meta Box conditional logic continue to fill correctly, so you can show or hide fields without losing geocoding.
Best for

- Businesses listing multiple shops or restaurants
- Event and real estate sites with address data
