Overview
Styling a WordPress site by hand means repeating the same decisions about colors, font sizes, spacing and breakpoints on every page. Automatic.css handles much of that groundwork. You set your brand colors and a base typography size, and the framework generates the supporting values and classes for you to apply in your page builder.
The framework is designed to work with popular WordPress page builders and allows customization across all styling areas, rather than locking you into fixed utility patterns. Its automatic responsive settings reduce the mobile styling you need to do, and global controls let you update styles or re-theme a whole site from one place. Beginners and experienced developers can both use it.
Features
- Page builder integration: Automatic.css is designed to work with popular WordPress page builders, so you can apply its classes and variables while building without a separate styling workflow.
- Automatic responsive design: Typography, spacing and layouts are optimized across devices automatically, which reduces the amount of mobile styling you have to write yourself.
- Dynamic color management: Set and swap your brand colors, and the framework generates shades and transparencies from them so the color scheme stays consistent across the whole site.
- Fluid responsive typography: Text scales smoothly across screen sizes using a base size and a scale value, with options for quick, granular overrides when a specific element needs them.
- Mathematically scaled spacing: Spacing utilities follow mathematical scales, which gives sections and elements a consistent rhythm without picking each margin and padding value by hand.
- Flexible layout system: Build responsive grids and column layouts with Flexbox and CSS Grid, including automatic breakpoint management and the Flex-Grid features the framework provides.
- Global, maintainable styling: Re-theme an entire site or update styles globally while keeping the codebase clean, which helps projects stay manageable as they grow.
- Color preview swatches: The color preview swatch works with any CSS color, including color-mix(), oklch() and light-dark() values, so you can check a color while you edit.
Best for
- WordPress designers building sites with page builders
- Developers who want consistent, maintainable styles across projects
- Beginners who want ready-made classes instead of custom CSS
