Overview

Donation pages collect names and email addresses, but turning givers into newsletter readers usually means exporting data by hand. Give MailChimp handles that step. A donor can opt in while giving, and the add-on places them on a MailChimp list. You can use one global list for every form or choose different lists for particular campaigns or donation forms.

Setup starts with your MailChimp API key and a few preferences, with no coding involved. From there you can turn on double opt-in, edit the opt-in label and set the checkbox default, either site-wide or form by form. Donors can also go to cause-specific lists, such as a Food Drive or a Holiday Campaign, which keeps follow-up messages relevant to what they supported.

Features

  • Automatic donor subscription: Donors who opt in during a donation are added to your MailChimp lists automatically, so you do not need to move contact details over by hand.
  • Multiple lists per form: Assign donors to one or several mailing lists for each donation form, which lets you match sign-ups to the campaign they gave to.
  • Global and per-form settings: Set a default list for every form, then override it on individual forms when a campaign needs its own audience or message.
  • Optional double opt-in: Turn on double opt-in so subscribers confirm their address before joining a list, which helps keep your mailing lists made up of people who want to hear from you.
  • Custom opt-in labels: Edit the opt-in prompt and the checkbox default globally or on each form, so the wording fits your organization and the campaign.
  • Cause-based segmentation: Add donors to lists tied to a specific cause, such as a Food Drive or a Holiday Campaign, so follow-up emails stay targeted.
  • Setup with an API key: Connect by entering your MailChimp API key and choosing your preferences. No coding is needed to get the integration working.
  • Global settings in the block: The MailChimp block includes a Use Global Settings option, so a form can follow the site's global MailChimp configuration.

Best for

  • Nonprofits running GiveWP donation forms
  • Fundraisers who email supporters through MailChimp
  • Organizations with separate campaigns needing separate lists
