Overview

Selling software, apps or subscription services through WooCommerce raises a practical question: how do you decide who gets access, and for how long? This plugin answers it by issuing a key when a customer buys, then checking that key whenever the customer's software contacts your store. Activation limits and access rules stay under your control, and the setup works with products and orders you already have.

The plugin includes a RESTful API for activating, deactivating and checking keys, listing products and delivering updates, so it works with any programming language. A PHP library is included for WordPress plugins and themes. It also connects to WooCommerce Subscriptions for recurring payments, which suits developers and digital product sellers who need renewals and upgrades handled in one place.

Features

  • Automatic key generation: A key is issued when a customer buys a product, so only paying customers receive access to your software or digital services.
  • RESTful licensing API: Handle activation, deactivation, status checks, product listings and update deployment programmatically, using any programming language that can make API requests.
  • Renewal reminder emails: Built-in emails go out 30, 7 and 1 day before a subscription expires, with a follow-up after it has expired.
  • Upgrades and downgrades: Customers can switch subscription tiers or add more activations, with pro-rated billing applied to the change.
  • Software update delivery: Deliver updates through secure links hosted on Amazon S3, remote URLs or local servers, with support for auto-updates.
  • WooCommerce Subscriptions integration: Recurring payment collection and subscription management work through WooCommerce Subscriptions and its supported billing gateways.
  • API key access control: Validate customer API keys online to control product access and enforce activation limits on your digital assets.
  • Migration and PHP library: Move data over from the WooCommerce Software Add-on, and use the included PHP library to connect your own WordPress plugins and themes.

Best for

  • Developers selling WordPress plugins or themes
  • Software and SaaS vendors using WooCommerce
  • Stores selling subscription-based digital services
