Overview
Running a WordPress site often means installing a separate plugin for each small job: one for login protection, another for media, another for menus. That adds up to more settings screens to keep track of and more chances for overlap between tools. This plugin groups those jobs into modules so you can turn on only what your site needs.
Every module's settings sit under one WP Extended screen, and you can move between them without a page reload. The modules cover security, content handling, user roles, media, menus and code snippets. It suits administrators who want one place to manage the routine parts of a site, and agencies that set up the same kinds of controls on many projects.
Features
- Over 40 modules: Modules cover utilities, security, posts and pages, user management, images and media, and organizational tools, so one plugin can stand in for several single-purpose ones.
- One settings screen: All module settings live under a single WP Extended screen in the admin, and you can switch between modules without the page reloading.
- Login attempt limits: Limit Login Attempts can trust a proxy header when detecting a visitor's IP address, which helps on sites running behind Cloudflare or a load balancer.
- Menu editor with role access: Grant a role access to a specific page. The page's capability applies only while WordPress serves that page, and delegated pages that save over REST or AJAX appear read-only.
- Code snippets with Safe Mode: The snippet editor includes a Safe Mode switch that turns every snippet off from the interface, so you do not need to edit a URL to recover.
- User role management: Manage user roles and permissions from within the plugin, so each person on your site can reach only the areas they need.
- Media and image handling: Dedicated modules take care of images and media files, giving you tools for organizing the library alongside the rest of your site management.
- Translated interface: The plugin ships in German, Spanish, French, Dutch, Brazilian Portuguese and European Portuguese, which helps teams who work outside English.
Best for
- Site owners who want fewer separate plugins
- Agencies setting up many client WordPress sites
- Administrators managing user roles and login security
Changelog
Version 3.4.0 — 3 November 2026
- New Redirect 404 to Homepage: Choose the redirect status code (301 or 302), the page to redirect to, and paths to exclude.
- New Pixel Tag Manager: Added a "Wait for cookie consent" option. Google Analytics loads with Consent Mode v2 set to denied, and the Facebook and Pinterest pixels wait until the visitor accepts cookies in Complianz, CookieYes or Cookie Notice. It is on by default for new installs; existing sites need to turn it on.
- New Admin: The WP Extended settings screens now work on phones, with a slide-out menu and stacked fields, and can be fully used from the keyboard.
- New SMTP Email: Check a provider's credentials from the settings screen, and choose which provider sends the test email.
- Improved Pixel Tag Manager: Tracking IDs are now checked when you save, with a message explaining the expected format.
- Improved Menu Visibility: Visibility is now chosen from a dropdown, spaced to match WordPress's own menu fields.
- Improved Code Snippets: PHP is highlighted even without an opening tag, and the editor is wider.
- Improved Menu Editor: Loading and resetting the menu no longer reloads the page.
- Improved Admin: Configure appears only once a module has finished enabling, and focus returns to module search after you clear it.
- Improved Post Type Switcher: The editor panel has been rebuilt with React [Pro].
- Improved Duplicate Post: The editor toolbar button has been rebuilt with React.
- Improved Admin: Notifications now use the new admin snackbar.
- Fixed Custom Login URL: Fixed an issue where the password form on password-protected pages stopped working.
- Fixed Menu Visibility: Fixed an issue where the Move links on the Menus screen showed the visibility label instead of the menu item's title.
- Fixed Licensing: Fixed an issue where `wp wpextended license` commands failed with "A valid URL was not provided" [Pro].
